In an interview with IQNA on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory, Sheikh Muhammad Saeed Abdullah Al-Naeemi, who is also a Quran reciter, added that Iran’s Quranic activities since the revolution have been unprecedented.
Following are excerpts from the interview.
Q: Would you first tell us about your Quranic and Islamic activities?
A: I am currently the prayers leader and preacher with Iraq’s Sunni Awqaf Department. I also host the “Wa Rattil Al-Qurana Tarteela” program on Al-Furqan Radio and have served as a jury member in many Quran competitions in different countries like Kuwait, Jordan, Malaysia, India, and Afghanistan.
Q: What is your view on the Quranic activities of the Islamic Republic of Iran since the victory of the Islamic Revolution led by Imam Khomeini (RA)?
A: I have visited Iran several times and would like to travel to Iran again. The Islamic Republic of Iran has indeed made a lot of efforts on the path of fostering the Quran. I have had interactions with Iranian Qaris whose activities indicate the progress of Quranic activities in Iran after the revolution. On the other hand, Iran has frequently hosted eminent Quran reciters of the Muslim world.
Q: Some say special attention to Quran recitation after the victory of the Islamic Revolution has led to the transfer of the school of recitation from Egypt to Iran. What do you think?
A: I have talked to many Egyptian reciters who have been to Iran as guests and their presence in Iran shows the country’s good interactions with Egyptian reciters.
On the other hand, the high level of Qaris representing Iran in international Quranic events shows special endeavors in the field of Quran recitation in Iran since the victory of the revolution.
Q: How do you evaluate the Quran exhibitions held in Iran since the revolution’s victory?
A: I visited one of these expos a few years ago and met with Iranian artists who have beautifully calligraphed the Word of God. I witnessed the significant progress of Iranian artists in the field of Islamic calligraphy and would like to congratulate Iran and its Quranic artists for this progress.
I have been willing to have more visits to Iran’s Quranic exhibitions.
Q: In your view, how successful has Iran been in organizing Quranic programs abroad during the past three decades?
A: Iran has really made extensive efforts in this regard and has made accomplishments in its Quranic activities outside of Iran.
