"Pregnancy: Ethics and Rights" Congress Launched

The annual congress on "Pregnancy: Ethics and Rights" opens today January 4 in Royan Research Institute, Tehran.
According to IQNA, the congress which will be held in commemoration of the late scholar Dr. Saeed Kazemi Ashtiani features the ethical and judiciary rules concerning fertility, conception, pregnancy, surrogate mothering, and the existing challenges and technique of treating infertility and
The first day of the conference that begins today at 8:30 a.m. includes 4 sections for presenting the selected articles. Among the most important topics are “Stipulation of Fertility or Infertility for Marriage: Rules and Effects”, “Relationship between Laws and Ethics”, “Absolute and Relative Necessities for Surrogate Uterus”, and “Royan Institute's Account of Surrogate Uterus”.
A video clip will also be screened on the first day in remembrance of Dr. Kazemi Ashtiani.
The articles to be presented on the second day of the conference deal with topics on the religious and judiciary issues of this new technique.
The conference will conclude on the third day with the presentation of other articles on the laws and ethics of fertility as well as Kiyarash Aramesh, scientific secretary of the conference, reading out the concluding report in the end.
The conference is aimed at investigating the new technique of surrogate uterus from ethical, judiciary, psychoanalytical and social points of view.
Royan Institute is a public non-governmental non-profitable organization established in 1991 by the late Dr. Saeid Kazemi Ashtiani as a research institute for Reproductive Biomedicine and infertility treatments. In 1998 this institute was approved by Ministry of Health as Cell Based Research Center. Now this institute acts as leader of Stem Cell research and also one of the best clinics for infertility treatment. It has 46 scientific members and 186 lab technicians.
