IQNA – The Awqaf ministry in Algeria plans to launch a national institution of Quran recitation.

It will be established under the supervision of a number of senior qaris, the ministry said, Al-Shuruq website reported.

The institution will be tasked with overseeing the activities of qaris, teaching Quran recitation and approving Tilawah (recitation) permissions given to new qaris.

Many Quran activists in the country have described the plan to launch the institution as a major achievement for the Awqaf ministry.

They say that with the ministry’s efforts, Quranic activities, including Quran teaching programs and Quran recitation sessions have seen a considerable rise in recent years.

Given the quality of the Quranic education in Algeria, there are many students from other countries, especially those in North and West Africa, studying Quranic sciences and learning Quranic skills in Algeria.
