Devotees of Imam Hussein (AS) set out from Tehran's Imam Hussein Square toward the shrine of Abdul Azim al-Hasani (AS), expressing their love and solidarity with the annual commemoration.
The Arbaeen pilgrimage, held each year in Karbala, marks the 40th day after Ashura, the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) in 680 AD. It is recognized as one of the world’s largest peaceful gatherings, attracting millions of people from across the globe.
Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands who cannot make the travel to Karbala, conduct a symbolic walk in their cities. Such events are held across Iranian cities. Also cities in other countries, including Canada and the UK, hold similar processions.
