Gomez, a candidate for Texas’s 31st congressional district, posted a viral video of herself torching a Quran with a flamethrower.
The clip, captioned “I will end Islam in Texas so help me God,” also included her claim that “America is a Christian nation” and that Muslims should leave for “any of the 57 Muslim nations.”
The remarks and footage sparked widespread condemnation from Muslim advocacy groups, political leaders, and civil society organizations.
She has since been banned from all major social media platforms except X. Despite the outrage, no hate crime investigation has been opened into the case.

He described the desecration as part of a long history of hostility against Islam, from military campaigns to media-driven disinformation, none of which, he said, had succeeded in extinguishing the faith.
Quoting another verse, he said: “They desire to put out the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light though the faithless should be averse.” (Quran 61:8).

Taghizadeh linked this to what he called the “ongoing behavior of arrogant powers, especially the United States and the Zionist regime.”
