The competition, which will run for six days, has a new category this year, according to the Director General of the Quran, Family and Prayer Department of the Ministry of Education.
Mikaeil Baqeri told IQNA that the ‘Mahdavi Discourse’ category is hosted by Jamkaran Mosque in Qom.
The Quran, Etrah, and Prayer competitions for students and educators were held from September 15 to 18 in an offline format and were hosted by Ghiori Elementary School in Rayy City. Another part of the Quran competitions for students, titled "Mahdavi's Speech," will be held in person during the last three days of September at the Jamkaran Mosque in the holy city of Qom.
He noted that the Mahdavi Discourse category is organized as a group event, in which two groups (two people in each group) face each other and compete in a Jidal Ahsan (best argumentation) debate on Mahdavi topics (subject related to Imam Zaman (AS) and awaiting the Savior).
He further noted that the other categories of the competition include Quran recitation, Tarteel, Quran memorization, Adhan (call to prayers), eulogy recitation.
There is also a research section, including categories such as Nahj al-Balagha, Quran interpretation, and religious rulings, he went on to say.

The competition is annually organized by the Education Ministry with the goal of promoting Quranic activities and identifying Quranic talents among school students.
