IQNA – The funeral ceremony of Martyr Haytham Ali Tabatabai, a senior commander of Hezbollah, and a number of other martyred resistance forces took place on Monday.

The funeral ceremony of Martyr Haytham Ali Tabatabai, a senior commander of Hezbollah, and a number of other martyred resistance forces took place on Monday, November 45, 2025.

It was held in a Beirut suburb with a large attendance of the public and Hezbollah officials.

Addressing the event, Head of the Executive Council of Hezbollah Sheikh Ali Damoush said Martyr Tabatabai was not only the commander of many operations for the past 35 years, but also one of the pioneers of repelling the recent Israeli aggression and the architect of the resistance strategies after the ceasefire.

He added that Tabatabai was a man of the field in all confrontations and one of the builders and bringers of liberation and victory.

Sheikh Damoush noted that Haytham Tabatabai was in command of the battle known as “Awli al-Bas” and played a role in leading the resistance, planning, organizing, and drawing up confrontation strategies after the ceasefire.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the cleric said it is the duty of the government to support its citizens and sovereignty and to resist and reject external dictates and pressures.

He said, “The enemy has not realized that we in Hezbollah become stronger and greater with martyrs, and the Zionists should remain concerned, because they have made a big mistake.”

Sheikh Damoush concluded by emphasizing that as long as the enemy does not adhere to the ceasefire agreement, “we are not obligated or committed to any plan or proposal.”

On Sunday night, Hezbollah announced the martyrdom of Commander Tabatabai and four other resistance fighters in “a treacherous Israeli attack”.

Tabatabai was the most senior Hezbollah commander to be killed by Israel since a November 2024 ceasefire with the resistance group.

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) denounced Israel’s cowardly assassination, saying it exposes the regime’s weakness in the face of the resistance axis.

The IRGC released a statement on Monday to strongly condemn Israel’s assassination of Tabatabai.

“The Zionist regime once again committed a clear terrorist crime by targeting one of the steadfast Hezbollah commanders,” it said.

“This cowardly act, which took place during a supposed ceasefire that the Israelis have often broken, is not proof of strength but shows the enemy’s weakness and helplessness against the will of regional nations and the Resistance Front.”

The IRGC also expressed regret over the silence and inaction of international and human rights bodies in the face of Israel’s genocide and acts of aggression, as well as the support that the usurping regime gets from the warmongering and terror‑nurturing rulers at the White House.

It further emphasized that the resistance axis is “alive and dynamic” and that the blood of the martyrs will ignite the flames of hope and determination in the hearts of freedom-seeking people and the faithful resistance fighters across the region.

“Undoubtedly, the Resistance Front and Lebanon’s Hezbollah reserve the right to avenge the blood of the brave fighters of Islam. When the time comes, a crushing response will be given to the terrorist aggressor,” the elite military force added.
