“Avicenna, Islamic Philosophers” Forum to Be Held

-- A forum on “Avicenna and Islamic Philosophers” will be held by Sadra Islamic Wisdom Foundation on October 18 and 19 at the Conference Hall of Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, Tehran.
Talking to IQNA, Ghasem Pur Hassan, secretary of the forum said the program has been organized in line with ‘Al-Farabi, founder of Islamic philosophy’ held by the foundation to discuss views of Islamic philosophers succeeding Farabi by the year 550 A.H.
He stated that various schools of Sufism, mysticism and theology during the years between 350 to 550 A.H. will be investigated at the forum which will be divided into three sections “from Al-Farabi to Avicenna”, “Avicenna” and “from Avicenna to Suhrawardi”.
“The call for the forum was announced in March and 80 abstracts have been sent to the secretariat so far. Those interested can send their papers within next two months .”
Member of the scientific board of Allamah Tabatabaee University noted that Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Khamenei, head of the foundation would present a speech at the opening ceremony of the forum.
“It will be continued with speeches to be presented by Gholamhussein Dinani, Karim Mojtahedi, Reza Davari Ardakani, Hussein Kalbasi, Yahya Yasrebi and Ayatollah Mohaghegh Damad.”
