Sheikh Sabri, the preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque in al-Quds, said that Israeli occupation authorities have taken advantage of the ongoing strikes on Iran to impose a complete closure on the site, which he described as “a blatant violation of Muslims' right to worship.”
Speaking to TRT Arabic, Sheikh Sabri stated, “The occupying Israeli authorities are using current developments as a pretext to justify the closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque and to prevent worshippers from reaching it.”

He emphasized that this action reflects a disregard for the sanctity of the mosque and presents “a direct challenge to Muslims around the world.”
According to Sabri, this is not a new tactic: “The occupation has always exploited incidents and tensions to assert control over the mosque.” However, he described the current closure as the “most severe and extensive” since the 2017 Bab al-Asbat (Lions’ Gate) uprising, marking an unprecedented level of restriction on freedom of worship at Islam’s first qibla.

Sheikh Sabri also reaffirmed a religious ruling (fatwa) stating that anyone who attempts to reach Al-Aqsa, even if prevented, will be rewarded for their intention and effort.
He called on Arab and Islamic nations to “assume their responsibilities and confront Israeli policies aimed at imposing a new reality on Al-Aqsa Mosque.” Sabri said, “Al-Aqsa is an undeniable right of Muslims, granted by divine decree, and no one has the authority to contest it.”
