Minister of Awqaf Osama Al-Azhari made the announcement during a public address at the Grand Mosque of Egypt. The event brought together male and female Quran memorizers under the theme “Egypt’s Role in Serving the Holy Quran,” according to Al-Dustour,
Al-Azhari said, “The Quran is intertwined with Egypt, and Egypt is intertwined with the Quran. This country remains the land of the Quran and the people of the Quran.”
He added that Egypt has a long-standing tradition in Quran recitation, ibtehal (religious supplication), dua (prayer), the adhan (call to prayer), and the dissemination of religious knowledge. Scholars of Al-Azhar, he noted, have played a prominent role throughout the country’s history.

The minister stressed that Egypt’s Quranic legacy extends beyond the celebrated generation of qaris, recalling earlier eras when reciters carried the message of the Quran far and wide. “Egypt must never withdraw from this position under any circumstances,” he said.
Al-Azhari revealed that the Ministry of Awqaf is finalizing plans for the “Beautiful Voice” Center, a specialized institution for muezzin training. The year-long program will teach the vocal modes (maqamat) and techniques of delivering the adhan, aiming to ensure that it is performed in the most beautiful and spiritually impactful manner.
“The adhan is not merely a resonating sound; it is a science, an art, and a form of religious outreach,” the minister said. “It requires education, refinement, and skill to raise a new generation of muezzins who combine outstanding performance with Islamic discipline.”
