Reza Shams, head of the Saveh Religious Boards Council, told IQNA that the Afghan Refugees Quranic Competition was widely welcomed by the Afghan refugee community.
It was held at the city’s Hazrat Abbas (AS) religious center thanks to the efforts of the Social and Cultural Council of the Afghan Refugees Religious Boards, he noted.
The Quranic event took place in two sections: men and women, and in under 16 and over 16 age groups, he stated.
The panel of judges comprised prominent Quranic scholars and the competition was held in a completely fair atmosphere.
The contest was aimed at promoting the Quranic culture and strengthening the Afghan refugee community’s connection with the Word of Revelation, according to Shams.
The presence of numerous participants and the high level of competition show the unique interest and talent of this community in Quranic activities, he said, adding that holding this event is an important step towards greater familiarity with the Quran and creating unity and empathy among the refugees.
