A mosque in Peacehaven, Sussex, south England, was the target of an arson attack in early October 2025.

Sussex Police said on Tuesday night, “Detectives investigating a report of arson at a mosque in Peacehaven have made a second arrest.

“Emergency services were called to the building in Phyllis Avenue around 9.50pm on Saturday, 4 October.

“Footage showed two people wearing masks and dark clothing approaching the front door before spraying accelerant on the entrance of the mosque and igniting a fire.

“Fortunately, those inside at the time were not injured but significant damage was caused to the mosque and a nearby vehicle.

“A 46-year-old man, from Littlehampton, who was arrested on Monday afternoon (6 October) on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, has been released on conditional bail while inquiries continue.

“This evening (Tuesday 7 October), a 25-year-old man, of no fixed address, was also arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He remains in police custody at this time.”
