The blaze occurred on October 4 at the Peacehaven Community Centre on Phyllis Avenue, which also serves as a mosque and community gathering space. Two people were inside when the fire started late that evening but were not injured.
Emergency services were called at around 9:50 p.m. after reports of a fire at the building. The blaze caused major damage to the mosque and a nearby car. Security footage reportedly showed two masked individuals approaching the entrance, spraying an accelerant, and setting it alight before fleeing.
Sussex Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the incident.

“It wasn’t random. It was a planned attack with intent to harm. But we’re not responding with anger or division. We’re responding with unity, sabr and action.
