Introducing the great library, its international relations director, Owsati, told the visiting researchers that the Ayatollah Mar’ashi Library is a unique collection of Islamic manuscripts established in 1369 (1990) by the late grand Ayatollah Sayyed Shahaboddin Mar’ashi Najafi.
“Over 75 thousand manuscripts featuring Islamic as well as non-Islamic topics in various languages including Persian, Arabic, Turkish, Urdu, Latin and Sanskrit, are preserved in the library,” he observed.
“It also contains 15000 microfilms and some one million copies of printed books.”
Owsati added that the library is in contact with over 400 libraries and archive centers all over the world.
Mostafa Akrour from Algeria, Mohammad Saeed An-Naeemi from Iraq, Mohammad Reza Ash-Sharifi from Iraq, Yusef Ramich from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hassan Ash-Sha’bani from Tunisia, Yalaj Mihalfi from Hungary and Mohammad Korki from Lebanon are among the Quranic researchers visiting Iran in the holy month of Ramadan.
The 16th international Quran exhibition, which is underway in Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla (prayer hall) will run through September 27.
