TEHRAN (IQNA) – A member of Turkey's Saadet Party says the United States is trying to maintain the security of the Zionist regime through devising conspiracies and plots in the Middle East.

On the sidelines of the 36th International Conference of Islamic Unity in Tehran last week, Mustafa Kaya who is the deputy of foreign affairs of Saadat Party talked with IQNA about the Islamic unity as well as regional topics.

"These kinds of conferences are very important for the unity of Islamic countries. We should organize such conferences all over the world," he said.

"Representatives of 20 Islamic countries from Indonesia, Malaysia, South Africa, Persian Gulf countries and other countries are present in this conference. They express their views on Islamic unity and criticize the internal problems of Islamic countries," he added.

He went on to say "If we work together and emphasize our similarities and commonalities, we can overcome differences and achieve Islamic unity practically."

Kaya considered the most important problem in the Middle East to be the so-called "Greater Middle East" project, which has had a negative impact on the entire region. This Project was announced by Condoleezza Rice, the then US Secretary of State. In 2003, she said that the borders of 23 countries will change from Morocco to Indonesia. This means that this project threatens the Islamic countries and intends to make Israel more secure by using the ethnic differences of the countries and by creating division and war between the Muslim nations.

Regarding his party's position on the normalization of relations with the Zionist regime, he said, "We are against normalization; Since 2010, Israel has benefited greatly from the phenomenon known as the "Arab Spring". At the beginning of the Arab Spring, people thought that their countries would become more democratic, but the desired result for the people was not achieved".

"We must focus on unity, cooperation and solidarity in order to strengthen our relations and overcome problems," he added.
