According to Shihab news agency, hundreds of settlers stormed the tomb of Joseph (AS) in the eastern part of the city under the protection of Zionist forces.

Palestinian youths and resistance fighters confronted the occupation forces and settlers, which led to clashes.

The Israeli forces opened fire and tear gas canisters at Palestinians, the report said.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said that the occupation forces have shot a Palestinian dead and injured at least four others – two of them in serious condition.

It added that 15 Palestinians were also treated for tear gas inhalation.

The Palestinian man martyred in the clashes was Badr Sami Raihi Misri who was shot in the chest and later died in hospital.

The Nablus battalion of the al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad resistance movement, said its members were “fighting the occupation forces and groups of settlers who had stormed the area of Joseph’s Tomb,” Al Jazeera reported.

Israeli settlers every now and then storm and desecrate holy sites in Al-Quds and West Bank cities under the protection of Zionist forces, drawing reaction from Palestinians.
