Speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Monday, Nasser Kana’ani said a ceasefire in Gaza is a necessity and Iran has been among the countries that have taken sincere steps in this area in line with its human rights duties.
The Islamic Republic will continue to employ its diplomatic capacities for establishment of a ceasefire, he stated.
Kana’ani also referred to the involvement of the United States in the negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza and said Washington, as an all-out supporter of the Tel Aviv regime, is in no position to pursue the case.
Instead of being committed to world peace and security, the US supports the child-killing Israeli regime and provides it with military and financial resources, he deplored.
If there had been a resolve in the US government for reaching a ceasefire in teh Gaza Strip, it would never have equipped the Israeli killing machine, he went on to say.
Kanaani added that the US should make it clear whether it seeks to buy time for Israel or it really pursues a ceasefire in Gaza.
The Israeli regime has waged a deadly military offensive on Gaza since on Oct. 7, 2023.
More than 40,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have since been killed in the enclave, and nearly 93,000 others injured amid mass destruction and shortages of necessities.
