According to sadanajd.com, the Shifa Museum in Jeddah is the first specialized museum that reflects the role of Muslim scientists in various branches of medical sciences and provides visitors with documented works of them in various medical fields.

The museum houses more than a thousand works of art and medicine from across the Islamic world, representing the development of medicine, surgery, and pharmacy from the golden age of Islamic civilization to the modern era.

It has dedicated special sections to Abu Bakr Razi, Avicenna (Ibn Sina), Abul-Qasim al-Zahrawi, and Ibn Nafis; four prominent figures in Islamic medicine; scientists whose discoveries and writings played a role in establishing the foundations of medical science and have been cited by major international universities and hospitals for centuries.

The museum houses rare copies of enduring medical works, including the first Arabic version of Ibn Sina’s ‘Canon of Medicine’, the Latin version of Razi’s ‘Smallpox and Measles’, and the Hindi version of Al-Tasrif by al-Zahrawi.

The museum is divided into nine main sections, covering various medical specialties such as prophetic medicine, anatomy, infection and epidemics, translation and authorship, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynecology, pharmacology, surgery, and medical diagnostics.
