Speaking to IQNA, Reza Moammemi Moqaddam, the director general of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization’s Cultural and Social Organization, highlighted the unparalleled role of the Holy Quran in the millions-strong Arbaeen march.
“Arbaeen is not only a large human gathering, but also a tangible manifestation of Quranic teachings in action. The Arbaeen march is a manifestation of Quranic nation-building, Islamic unity, and resistance to oppression,” he stated.
The Holy Quran plays an irreplaceable role in the Arbaeen procession as a cognitive, moral, and unifying charter for Shia and the Islamic Ummah, the official noted.
Moammemi Moqaddam added that o the Arbaeen pilgrimage route, the recitation of the Quran is the dominant voice in the processions, gatherings to learn about the Quran are held along the way to Karbala, and verses of jihad, patience, and resistance resonate in slogans and pulpits.
“Verses from the Holy Quran resonate on the path from Najaf to Karbala. The slogans of Arbaeen pilgrims are full of Quranic concepts, the processions are revived with luminous recitations, and teenagers and young adults are educated with Quranic concepts in the heart of this great movement.”
The official also referred to the organization’s special Quranic programs along the Arbaeen route, saying they include Quranic gatherings, daily recitations of verses in Moukebs, a Quranic recitation plan with the intention of offering its Sawab (spiritual reward) to martyrs, programs for short contemplation on Quranic verses, and Quranic counseling.
He also announced the launch of special Quranic gatherings for non-Iranians in Karbala and Najaf, and said with these programs, “we will turn Arbaeen into a stage of jihad for Quranic explanation and loudly declare that the Ummah of the Quran stands against oppression, distortion, and arrogance.”
