Qassemi, selected to represent Iran in Malaysia’s Quranic event after winning the National Quran Competition held by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization last year, went on the stage on Sunday night.
In his performance at the competition venue, he recited verses 11 to 21 of Surah Al-Anaam.
The 65th International Al-Quran Recital and Memorization Assembly (MTHQA) opened in Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.
Held from August 2 to 9, this year’s MTHQA carries the theme “Developing a MADANI Community,” and features 71 participants from 49 countries.
Winners will receive cash prizes of RM40,000 for first place, RM30,000 for second, and RM20,000 for third place, along with jewelry sponsored by the Islamic Economic Development Foundation of Malaysia (YAPEIM).
In this edition of the International Quran Competition, Gholamreza Shahmiveh-Esfahani, a veteran Iranian Quranic expert, is a present as a member of the panel of judges.
