Moroccan Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Ahmed Toufiq delivered the opening address, highlighting what he described as the long-standing attachment of Moroccans to the Quran.
He noted that around half a million students, including a significant number of women, are currently enrolled in traditional Quranic schools across the country.
Toufiq expressed appreciation for Moroccan scholars and their role in conveying the Quran’s message through “sound reasoning and wise analysis.”
The ceremony began with a recitation by Moroccan qari Abdelkarim Al-Baqi Allah, followed by a speech from Abdelrahim Nablsi, head of the jury panel.
A video was also shown, introducing the prize and highlighting Morocco’s leading institutions dedicated to promote and preserve the Quran.
