Speaking on Wednesday, the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks, Qassem described the wounded as symbols of perseverance whose sacrifices have become a source of renewed strength for the resistance. “The Israeli enemy wanted to neutralize your power and wanted to remove you from the battle, (but) you re-entered it with greater strength and greater energy,” he said.
The blasts on September 18 and 19, 2024, killed at least 39 people, including two children, and left more than 3,400 others injured, many with life-altering wounds such as blindness or amputations. The attacks were part of Israel’s broader military campaign against Lebanon, which claimed more than 3,000 lives before a ceasefire was reached in November 2024.

Qassem, addressing survivors, highlighted three qualities he said defined them: recovery, rising after adversity, and perseverance. He called their survival and determination a divine test they had passed with honor.
“You are the ones with true vision, the source of our hope, and your devotion to God is what gives life its eternal meaning. You are the light that guides our way forward, and your resilience is the very heartbeat of our resistance,” he told them.
He emphasized that their aspirations—whether continuing education, entering social or cultural work, or starting new initiatives—showed their refusal to be sidelined by injuries.

“Some of you aim to finish your university education, others hope to start a workshop, pursue social work, enhance their cultural knowledge, or enter the media field. With the support of your peers, you are accomplishing extraordinary achievements,” he said, according to Al Mayadeen.
Reiterating Hezbollah’s broader struggle, Qassem declared, “Know that Israel will fall given its nature of occupation, oppression, criminality, and aggression, and the fact that the resistance fighters are confronting it until liberation.”
