Speaking to IQNA on the sidelines of the 39th International Islamic Unity Conference, Sheikh Daqaq cited the Quranic verse, “And We have not sent you except as a mercy to the worlds” (Al-Anbiya 21:107), and said: “According to this verse, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was a mercy for all of mankind.”

He noted that this year marks 1,500 years since the Prophet’s birth, saying, “It means that for 1,500 years, divine mercy has surrounded us through the birth of the Prophet (PBUH).”

The cleric emphasized that understanding the Prophet’s life requires applying both his divine and practical teachings in everyday life. Referring to another verse, “Hard against disbelievers, merciful among themselves” (Al-Fath 48:29), Sheikh Daqaq added: “Just as the Prophet and his companions embodied this verse, we too must strengthen the roots of unity, cohesion, and solidarity within the Muslim community, and remain firm against enemies, including the United States and the Zionist regime.”

He further stated, “If we wish to be true Muslims and real followers of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), we must show compassion and solidarity among ourselves while opposing the disbelievers, oppressors, and tyrants.”

Concluding his remarks, Sheikh Daqaq said that following the Prophet’s example would allow Muslims to embody the Quranic teaching, “You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong” (Al-Imran 3:110). “By acting on the Prophet’s teachings, we can be the best community among people, calling to good and forbidding evil,” he said.
