‘Greatest Gift of My Life’: Umrah Reward for Anchor’s Bravery During Israeli Aggression
The ceremony took place on Monday, September 29, with the participation of Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Abdolfattah Navvab, the Leader’s representative in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs, Alireza Bayat, head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, and several deputies. Alongside Emami’s gift, her husband also received a pilgrimage quota.
“This is the greatest gift of my life,” Emami said. She recalled the night of June 16, when Israel targeted the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) political department in Tehran with missiles, briefly disrupting national TV broadcasts. Emami and her colleagues continued their live program, chanting “Allahu Akbar.”
“That moment was not in human hands. It was the hand of God beside me and my colleagues, giving us strength to leave behind our roles as mothers and wives, and to make the right decision,” she said.

Emami also shared her mother’s experience during Hajj at the time of the attack. “My mother later told me she heard pilgrims mentioning my name and praying for me during circumambulation. She didn’t know what had happened because she is not active online. Other pilgrims explained the incident to her. She said: ‘You did something that made people pray for you in Mecca.’”
Navvab praised Emami’s defiance. “What our dear sister did on June 16 was a scene of divine assistance and inner purity. She put aside her roles as mother and wife and stood as a defender, ready for sacrifice. With the cry of ‘Allahu Akbar,’ she gave hope to the people of Gaza, Palestine, and Iran,” he said.
He added that while in Mecca, he had promised Emami that an Umrah trip would be gifted to her in appreciation of her bravery.

The June 16 attack was part of Israel’s wider aggression, launched on June 13, against Iranian military and civilian targets. The strikes killed senior military officials, nuclear scientists, and civilians. The United States also joined the assault by bombing Iran’s nuclear facilities. Iran retaliated with missile strikes on Israeli and American bases, eventually forcing Israel to accept a ceasefire twelve days later.
