The event, hosted in Moscow and supported by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia (SAMR) in cooperation with the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Humanities of the United Arab Emirates, brought together participants from 30 countries.
Abdollahi took the top spot in the recitation category. A rare tie for second place was recorded, shared by Muhammad Al‑Fawal from Lebanon and Aiman Ridhwan Mohamad Ramlan from Malaysia. The third-place prize went to Ardiansyah Abu Bakar of Indonesia.
The competition was held over October 15–18 at the Moscow Cathedral Mosque and concluded with the awards ceremony at the Cosmos Hotel Concert Hall.

The closing ceremony featured remarks by key organisers, including SAMR Chairman Grand Mufti Ravil Gaynutdin, who described the contest as “more than just an event—it unites hearts around the Book of Allah, inspires good deeds, strengthens faith, and introduces people to the sublime art of the Quranic word.”
Deputy Chairman and head of the organising committee, Mufti Rushan Abbyasov, emphasised the event’s role in promoting spiritual diplomacy and cross-cultural understanding.
The competition’s supporting institution from the UAE, the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Humanities, was acknowledged for its collaboration in the international event.

Participants competed in the “Tilāwah” (recitation) category, demonstrating mastery of Tajweed (proper Quranic pronunciation and intonation) and expressive performance. Many had previously won national contests in their home countries.
Abdollahi is a distinguished qari from the Iranian province of Qom, affiliated as a muezzin at the holy shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh and Jamkarān Mosque. He previously ranked fifth in the 47th National Quran Competition of Iran.
