--Tajweed and recitation ًQuran competition for kids kicked off yesterday, December 11, in Sana’a city, capital of Yemen.
According to Sabanet News Agency, the contest is held by the Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Ministry of Yemen in cooperation with the Al-Jazeereh Children’s Channel.
Abd-ol-Rahaman Al-Mozalem, head of the Quran Memorization Center of the Ministry said that some 150 individuals, men and women, from across the country will compete with each for three days in Tajweed and memorization categories.
“Only 5 individuals can make it to the final stage of the competition as Yemen representative which is to be held in Qatar by the Al-Jazeereh Children’s Channel,” he added.
Head of the Ministry made a speech at the opening ceremony of the event and urged officials to better organizing the Quran competitions. “We can identify Quranic elites by organizing Quranic contest and also promote the Nabavi (PBUH) Sirah”, he pointed out in his speech.
