Disarming Hezbollah Would Only Benefit Israel: Senior Cleric

IQNA – The head of the Supreme Islamic Council of Lebanese Shias emphasized that disarming Hezbollah is a crazy, absurd, and worthless decision that serves the interests of the Zionist regime.

Ahmed Qabalan, reacting to the statements of Bishop Bishara al-Ra’i, the bishop of the Maronite Christians in Lebanon, who called on Hezbollah to hand over its weapons, said, “We are a power that God has blessed with historical sacrifices and national victories.”

If there is a historical sacrifice for Lebanon, it is what the Amal Movement, Hezbollah, and other resistance groups have offered, defeating the Israeli regime and saving the Lebanese government and its institutions, he stated.

“We will not allow the Zionist regime to occupy Lebanon again. We trust in God and in this great nation and its national army and its great resistance, which are waiting for the moments of great sacrifices. The Shias (of Lebanon) are opposed to surrender and betrayal, and if there is a group in this country that is eager to give its blood, youth and resources for the sake of the homeland, it is the Shias and the resistance.”

Qabalan added that the statements of Sheikh Naim Qassem, the secretary general of, are full of truth and promote national interests.

“He (Sheikh Qassem) is someone who has put his life on the path of establishing Lebanon and preserving its sovereignty. Nabih Berri, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, remains the shield of Lebanon and the guardian of its national sovereignty.”

He underlined that Hezbollah has never been defeated and will never be defeated.

Qabalan went on to say that the reason for the current war is Israel, the terrorist and occupier, which was founded on the ruins of the people, the homeland and the blood of individuals.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he emphasized that Iran is the party that shattered the Middle East project and destroyed the dream of “Greater Israel” of Washington and Tel Aviv.
