Umrah Visa Issuance to Resume June 10 for International Pilgrims

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah confirmed the launch of the new Umrah season, with the first groups of foreign pilgrims expected to arrive on Wednesday, June 11.

Umrah can be performed year-round and is distinct from Hajj, which is limited to specific dates in the Islamic lunar calendar.

According to the ministry’s timeline, service providers and international agents were instructed to finalize agreements by May 27.

The resumption follows the conclusion of this year’s Hajj, which brought together more than 1.6 million pilgrims from across the globe. Many pilgrims have begun returning to their home countries, while others are continuing their journeys to Medina.

Each year, the issuance of Umrah visas is temporarily paused in the weeks leading up to Hajj. This pause allows for the allocation of resources toward managing the larger Hajj pilgrimage, which involves a concentrated influx of visitors over a shorter period.

Further information regarding travel procedures, health requirements, and pilgrim quotas for the new Umrah season is expected in the coming months. The current Umrah cycle will extend into the Islamic year 1447 (2026).
