Speaking at a press conference upon his arrival in Beirut on Wednesday morning, Ali Larijani said Iran will stand by the beloved people of Lebanon in all circumstances.
“We will always seek to realize the national interests of Lebanon.”
Iran and Lebanon both have a rich civilization, and over the centuries there have always been close ties between the two nations, he noted.
Larijani pointed to the connection between Iranian and Lebanese culture and said, “Because of this connection, an attachment has also arisen between the two nations, and if one day the Lebanese nation is in pain, we in Iran will also feel this pain.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian official thanked and appreciated Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri for making the preparations for his trip to Beirut.
