Speaking in an interview with IQNA, Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mohammad Reza Mirtajeddini said the lack of this unity will lead to the expansion of the Israeli regime’s oppression and aggression against Palestine and the countries of the region.
“Therefore, only the practical unity of the Islamic Ummah and Muslim states can stop the Zionist regime’s machine of killing and crime.”
He added that unity is a divine blessing and it is stated in the Quran, “Remember the Favor of Allah bestowed upon you when you were enemies, and how He united your hearts, so that by His Favor you became brothers.” (Verse 103 of Surah Al Imran)
Therefore, he stated, since unity is a divine blessing, it is sacred.
The cleric emphasized the necessity of maintaining national and Islamic unity and cohesion, considering it one of the main factors of the success of nations throughout history. “The unity of nations has always been the factor of victory of all nations and the Islamic world. In the imposed 12-day war (that the Israeli regime launched against Iran in June this year), the cohesion and solidarity of our nation was also one of the main factors of victory against the Zionist regime. Therefore, this unity and cohesion should always be maintained against the enemies.”
Stating that the Islamic world consists of 57 countries, Hojat-ol-Islam Mirtajeddini said if Islamic countries had acted unitedly, many crises, including the Gaza and Palestine issues, would have been resolved much sooner.
“Unfortunately, this unity does not exist among Islamic states, and the enemy exploits this weakness of the Islamic world.”
He went on to say that if all Islamic countries had severed all economic and political ties with Israel, some countries had closed the regime’s representations and embassies and acted like Yemen and refused to send any aid to Israel, “we would not have witnessed this volume of deaths and the oppression of the people of Gaza today.”
Emphasizing that the lack of unity will cause Israel to continue its oppression and not limit it to Palestine, he stated, “With the continued passivity of Islamic governments, the influence of this regime will also expand to Syria and other countries in the region.”

In response to the question of why the events in Gaza, from the forced displacement to the so-called “Greater Israel” project, do not compel the Islamic world to take special action, he said the Organization of Islamic Cooperation must solve this problem with practical solutions and serious involvement, and not be satisfied with mere slogans and statements.
“Today, the world favors decisions against Israel, and the Zionist regime has become one of the most hated countries in history and has been isolated.”
