Mobile Mosque Developed to Support Muslim Worship in Remote Areas

The Mobile Mosque was developed by Yasu Project Co., Ltd. using the loading platform of a large truck as its base. It is designed to offer a prayer facility in areas affected by war, disasters, or lacking religious infrastructure.

The mobile unit was recently displayed near Tokyo Tower. Visitors used its water taps for ablution before performing prayers inside the prayer room, Arab News reported.

The facility measures up to 48 square meters and can accommodate 50 people. It includes outdoor washing stations for pre-prayer cleansing.

According to Yasu Project’s CEO, Inoue Yasuharu, the Mobile Mosque provides a temporary prayer space when permanent facilities are unavailable. He noted that it has been used both inside and outside Japan.

Arab and Muslim diplomats in Tokyo expressed support for the initiative, highlighting its potential benefits.

A fund named the Mobile Mosque Peace Contribution Project has been launched to support manufacturing and operation. It aims to collaborate with Islamic world-related businesses and collect part of their profits as donations.

The company plans to consult with authorities about exporting the mosque to West Asia.
