The building of this institute was completely destroyed by Serbian forces in 1999, but then the Qatari government undertook its reconstruction and Turkey covered its operating and maintenance costs, which restored the historical and civilizational status of the institute.
Today, the institute is a state-of-the-art center for teaching the memorization of the Holy Quran, combining in-depth religious education with long-standing scholarly traditions.
