Egypt’s Minister of Awqaf recently appointed Nuaina as the Sheikh al-Qurra of Egypt.

“The revival of the position of Sheikh al-Qurra as an institution independent of the reciters’ association is an important historical step that brings great and prominent Egyptian reciters back to the stage,” Nuaina said, Newsroom reported.

He emphasized that this reflects the Egyptian government’s efforts to protect the Quran and the people of the Quran, and demonstrates the country’s efforts to preserve the authentic heritage of Egyptian Quran recitation.

This decision, before being a formality, carries with it a responsibility, he stated, stressing that his election as Sheikh al-Qurra places a great responsibility and a great mission on his shoulders.

Nuaina asked God Almighty to help him fulfill this responsibility as a trust in the most complete way so that he can meet the expectations of the Egyptian government in serving the Book of God, the reciters and bearers of the Quran.

Meanwhile, Abdel Ghani Hendi, a member of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs of Egypt, praised the Minister of Awqaf for his decision to revive the Supreme Council for Recitation and appoint Nuaina as the Sheikh al-Qurra, saying the selection of Nuaina for this position after more than 50 years of service to the Quran is a wise decision that emphasizes the resolve to revive the status of reciters and bring them back to the stage.
