
The session took place on Monday, witnessing an extensive discussion and review of the development of religious frameworks for Quranic centers and the role of specialized Quranic institutions, especially the Mohammed VI Center for Quranic Recitations and Studies, in promoting quality education of memorizers of the Holy Quran, hibapress reported.
It came after several members of parliament asked the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs about the progress of education in this field and considered the skill of memorizing the Quran to be the cornerstone of preserving the religious identity of Morocco.
In response to the questions of the members of parliament about the achievements of the Mohammed VI Quranic Center, Awqaf Minister Ahmed El-Tawfiq said that thanks to the efforts and intensive training courses, Morocco has a significant number of competent and capable Quran memorizers.
He added that the center has a large number of Quran memorizers who are skilled in various Qira’at (styles of recitation).
He said the center has become an important and key space in nurturing a new generation of Quran memorizers in accordance with high standards, and its activities are based on scientific expertise and adherence to systematic criteria.

El-Tawfiq went on to say that the Muhammad VI Center was selected and honored in 2024 as the top Quranic institution in the Islamic world by the officials of the Kuwait Quran Prize.
