Qaris from Iran, Egypt and Bangladesh took part in the Quranic program in the city of Sulaymaniyah.
It began at the city’s Arts Palace on Friday, September 13, and ran for two days.
The Quran recitation by Saleh Mehdizadeh, an 11-year-old qari from Iran’s Gilan Province was received very warmly by the audience during this year’s festival.
The Khaal intenational festival is annually organized under the supervision of the Center for the Development of Iraqi Kurdistan’s Youth Activities.

It has been named after Sheikh Muhammad Khaal (1904-1989), a Kurdish scholar, Faqih, thinker and author one of whose main works is the Khaal Interpretation of Quran in the Kurdish language.
