Expert Hails Good Level of Teenage Contenders in Iran Nat’l Quran Contest
“In this year’s competition, the very good level of participants under 18 years of age was surprising to us judges, Sedigheh Barani, a judge in the field of Lahn (tone) told IQNA.
“We usually know people over 18 to some extent, but the quality level of the under-18 age-group is more attractive to us.”
The participants in the under 18 age group were very well prepared in all areas including recitation, Tarteel and memorization, she stated.
It was quite obvious that the contestants had gained more knowledge compared to previous years, she said, adding that the level of competition was acceptable and consistent.
Barani also stressed the good reception of this year’s event, saying, “I have been working as a judge in Quran competitions since 2006, which means nearly 20 years. It was expected that there would be lower reception of this edition of the competition given the conditions that have recently arisen in the country, but the reception was very good.”
The National Holy Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran, organized by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, is the largest Quranic contest in Iran, attracting participants from across the country to compete in various categories.
