IQNA – The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the Israeli attacks on Yemen that led to the martyrdom of a number of Yemeni officials earlier this week.

Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahawi and several ministers were targeted by the Israeli regime during a government workshop reviewing annual performance, Sana'a, August 28, 2025.

In a statement on Saturday, the ministry said the Israeli regime’s strikes and the martyrdom of Yemeni public servants will not weaken the determination of the free and brave Yemeni people to defend their dignity and support the oppressed Palestinians.

The Israeli airstrike on Thursday led to the martyrdom of Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmad Ghaleb Al-Rahawi as well as several ministers and also left several senior ministers wounded.

It marks a significant escalation in Israel’s ongoing military aggression against Yemen.

The Ansarullah government was holding a routine workshop to assess its activities over the past year when it was targeted by the Israeli jets.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s statement is as follows:

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemns the aggressive and terrorist act by the vile Zionist regime against Yemen, which led to the martyrdom of Prime Minister of Yemen’s Change and Development Government Ahmed Ghalib Nasser al-Rahwi, along with several accompanying ministers. The Foreign Ministry underlines the urgent need for serious action by the international community and Muslim countries to curb the rogue actions of this regime.

The brutal crime of the Zionist regime, including military attacks on infrastructure and residential areas in Yemen and the assassination of senior officials and innocent citizens, constitutes a clear war crime and a crime against humanity. It is also a malicious revenge against a nation determined to fulfill its moral and humanitarian duty in support of the oppressed Palestinian people, making each and every sacrifices in this path.

These terrorist attacks and the martyrdom of Yemeni public servants will not weaken the determination of the free and brave Yemeni people to defend their dignity and support the oppressed Palestinians. Instead, they only increase hatred and anger among public opinion, particularly in the Islamic world, against the Zionist regime and its supporters, especially the US.

The Islamic Republic of Iran offers congratulations and condolences over the martyrdom of the Yemeni prime minister, other senior Yemeni officials, and all citizens of the country killed in the Zionist regime’s military aggression and at the same time, it stresses the responsibility of the UN and all its member states to take urgent action to stop the war-mongering acts of the occupying regime and hold its criminal leaders accountable.

The Islamic Republic warns of the escalating threats posed by the expansionism and organized terrorism of the Zionist regime against international peace and security. Undoubtedly, continued inaction by the UN Security Council regarding the military aggression by the Zionist regime against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of regional countries, as well as its blatant violations of international law, especially human rights and humanitarian law, further undermines legal norms and the ethical foundations of the international community.

It also puts regional and global peace and security at unprecedented risk.
